Not a big fan of Soccer/futbol. Boy there’s an understatement. I’ve often looped it in with the other games that I find a little boring. But having nothing better to do, I wandered down to the dank and dirty RFK Stadium for the latest DC United home match. You know the phrase, “a face only a mother could love” well that’s what RFK has become. A stadium only the United would love ( and I doubt they love it)

As I sat there taking photos from the seat I sneeked my way into, i tried to come up with a concrete reason that I was not enjoing the sporting contest in front of me. This is what I came up with……

There is no buildup and release. In every sport I’ve played and nearly every sport I’ve seen, there is a BUILDUP of emotion, anticipation of the play to come, of momentum, to the point where you can nearly predict what is going to happen next. Its seeing a pitcher on a baseball mound wipe his brow too many times and look into the dugout for help, Its a QB dropping back and throwing the same 10 yard out and seeing the Defensive Back nod to his teammate about the next pass, It’s a 2 on 1 break in Hockey. I just never feel it with Soccer. Its just not there for me. I have to applaud the United Fans though, they work hard to make it fun. It just didn’t work for me.
